HEllo fellow Pro-E people.

I think I have a good challenge for us experts in Pro-E. I seem to be have an issue with trying to make filled text show as filled. Many threads address making text as a projection and then cutting into the solid, change the color and its filled.

But!

What if you have text that is WRAPPED around a cylindrical surface? it would seem Pro-E will not let you select that curve that is wrapped. This text aspect seems to have a unique set of challenges.

I think you will have to do surface work for this. You can't extrude curved text but you can project it. Here is a picture of how I started out.

Great try Kdem ! Thanks for the efforts.

Try your test again but this time get the text to be wrapped 1/2 way around the cylinder. Your picture is a little small so I cannot see your tree from that image and obviously you now know the amount of work just for the ability to show laser marking text in true form on a part or component. Hmmm seems like there should be a far better way. IT gets worse too if you consider you need a drawing and maybe a full sclae representation of the text in the flat so the laser marking people can import that text. Pictuire a logo as well and not just text.

Can you send me your file so I can plot your steps? Seems like a good thing to send to PTC for enhancements.

Here is an attempt to get the text to wrap half way around the cylinder. Sure, I can send the file just let me know what version. I can send it as a WF2 or WF3 file.

Hidden line representation so you can see the text wrap.

THanks Kdem,

Looks interesting and I would like to see your file. Wf 2 or 3 file format would be great please. I would like to quantify your steps and compare to some other ideas I have been trying. All in all the amount of time and effort is important to me as well and I will send in a product request after I am done.

Thanks Again,

Eric.
