fixed length spline curve?

New member
Is there any way to fix the length of a spline curve?

example: a spline curve that is normal at both ends to staight sections at 45 degrees to each other.

I don't understand exactly how is this spline of yours but there is a way of making the spline length to have a fixed value. Use perimeter option.

Select the spline, then edit / convert to / perimeter and click on one dimension that defines the spline and that dimension will be converted into a perimeter dimension , and a perim dimension will be shown and the original dimension will be variable.

Double click on the perim. dimension and give it a value. Now the spline length will be fixed.

I hope this is what you ment by fixed length.

can this be done in 2001?

the "convert to"option in the edit menu is grayed out when the spline is selected

Yes it can be done in 2001 because I've done this some time ago when I worked in 2001, unfortuantely I don't have 2001 anymore andI don't remember how is done in 2001.Maybe in 2001 you don't have to select the spline first. Try to select a dimension and then go to convert. If this doesn't work do not select anything and goto convert and then click on the spline. I'm just guessing now.

But better, try to see what help says about this.

Or maybe someone who still has 2001 can advice you better.
