Looking for a free STEP and IGES file translator, one that has more than a 15 day trial, but a real free one. Having problems importing files into pro, and want to confirm they will open in another program to see where the problem lies.
"Translator" or "viewer"? Don't think you'll find the former but there are a few of the latter around. Kubotek (sp?) comes to mind. The Rhino suggestion ain't bad. You can view all you want and if necessary modify and use one of your free saves to export. Edited by: jeff4136
You can download Autovue from this site http://www.autovue.com/index.html. Through Autovue you can view different types of files. The trial version is for 30 days and in case you like it you can always buy it and I guess it shouldn't be expensive.
I used to use Maya 3D back at my old company and I thought it was able to open STEP files. There is a free "Personal Learning Edition" available on the Alias (now Autodesk) site which contains almost all the features as the commercial version. However, the license prohibts all commercial use (or I think it said that), just be aware of that I guess. Since Maya 3D is a full 3D rendering suite I don't think they will mind if you just open STEP (and possibly IGES) files to verify they are not corrupt.
