Hi I'm still doing that Basic modelling tutorial with the calculator.
So far I've managed to make buttons patterns like so
But what if I wanted a more caotic and artistic buttons layout, how can I re-position each individual button just by draggin them with the mouse?
Hi... Your pattern seems to be planar ..so you can use "curve pattern" as some kind of border for buttons but make sure that you have correct relations and constrains between features for pattern...
Hi lordi,
u r now using the most basic type of patterns . if u are in wildfire3 try playing with the fill pattern. it has many new improvements from wf2. and also curve driven patterns .
Wildfire 2 also had curve driven patterns it was just hidden under the fill pattern type, you could also use the randomness capiblility of a table pattern.
The only pattern upgrade from 2 to 3 is the ability to follow a surface contour with your instances.
In reality those buttons would be separate parts in an assembly not extrusions in your calculator part.
Hi
please make this post as a new post.
and ur cut is not seems to be a parabolic one. its only a simple extruded cut done on a curved surface and given a radius i feel.

tnx for the tips guys but I'm afraid I'm not able to follow you without any visual aid
could you possibly point me to some already existing tutorial on the web that might discuss and show visually what you guys just explained to me in here?
