Helical Sweep: Limitation to dimensions.

<DIV =wordwrap itxtvisited="1">Hi,<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">I am trying to create a coiled tube with 0.014" thick coils, and a pitch value of .1, using the helical sweep tool. However, when I finished defining all the attributes and press OK in the Attributes table, I get an error message saying that some defined dimension are too small compared to other dimensions in the object. So, I changed the thickness value of the cross section from 0.014 to .2, and this time it worked. Is there a way to force Pro-E to accept the 0.014"? This coil thickness is an industy standard value for coiled tubes.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">Any help will be greatly appreciated.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">Nanay1 </DIV>
 
It's an accuracy issue. go to edit -> setup -> accuracy and change your accuracy from relative to absolute. the default value (probably 0.0001) should work.

Relative accuracy is a ratio between the longest edge or dim in the part and the smallest allowable edge. Absolute is the absolute smallest edge that Pro|E will create.

For large parts with small details, absolute is better. In fact, I use absolute on everything. Relative accuracy gets me in trouble a lot, blocking me from creating the detail I need. The idea behind relative accuracy was that you didn't want to be creating tiny details on very large parts, you couldn't hold the accuracy in manufacturing. But that's simply not true, many processes will allow fine detail on large parts.
 
Accuracy is the correct answer as dgs said. But, I have also heard people say that you make it with the bigger diameter and then edit back to the smaller dia. and some say it works.
