helical sweep using a spline

Hello.
Can anyone guide me to draw a helical sweep using a variable random spline with open ends as a trajectory ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards.

whats a variable random spline?

sorry, my bad. I am a truly beginner at this and a put it wrong.

1. i draw a spline trajectory (that could have any shape-that's what i really ment by "variable random spline") . Please take it as it is : a spline

.

2.i would like to be able to get a helical sweep around that spline.

---or, if i a 3d curve, using points/else will it be the same approach to this problem ?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

If I understand the question correctly... the answer is to insert a helical sweep, sketch the spline as your sweep profile, and finish it off with the desired pitch and section. Don't forget to add the axis of revolution.

It's going well. Advanced Pro/E plastic part design, creation, manipulation, deconstruction, and reconstruction. My training is paying off! I'm thinking about sheetmetal for next year...

Yes you can with the variable section sweep feature.

Sketch you spline as a sketch

Select it and start variable section sweep.

Click on sketch icon in dashboard.

draw a line from the center point at an angle to horizontal reference. Make sure you've got an angle dimension. dimension the physical length of the line. Create a relation in the sketch where the dimension(angle) = trajpar * 360* number of coils. ( look in help files for example)

trajpar takes the length of the curve and gives it a value of 0 at start and 1 at the end.

So at the start it will be 0*360*n which is 0.
as value changes over curve from 0 to 1, your angle of the line will change.

Helical sweep

select the helical sweepoption and fix the attributes as u like. select sketching plane and draw sweep profile (straight or as u like) and give dimensions, give the pitch value(the proecalculated and sweep the section with respected to sweep profile height) then draw the cross section of the sweep
