I have been a frequent user of Pro E for modelling but this is my first instance with Pro Mechanica.
Iam working on a small design optimization project where in i have a Steel structure frame (beams and columns) that need to be optimized. In other words, iam trying to find the lightest shape of Structural member (I sections) for the column and beams
Though i could do this by hand calculations i would like to use Pro Mechanica's Design study to optimize my structure.
I started my approach by trying to Benchmark a cantilever beam (W4x13) with hand calculations. But could not cme anywhere close. I already have another post talking about this. Iam pushed for a deadline and hence iam looking for some help from anybody who does these type of studies with Pro Mechanica.
So basically
I know the loads on my beams and columns. I want to optimize the steel structure. I can individually optimize structure (beam seperately and column seperately beams for stress and deflection and columns for buckling) After i have these optimized shapes i want to find the deflection(deflections in beams and buckilng in columns considering the entire frame).
I do nt know of an approach in modelling, as iam fairly new to Mechanica. I would greatly appreciate anyone who would be able to help.
