thanx in advance

skwasim,

Well family table is used to create a generic part or assembly, it allows you to createinstances having different dimensions, suppress features or assembly components. Family table is commonly used because only the generic part or assembly uses disc space and it helps in creating models having different sizes in one part.hope it helps.

good luck

They also simplify making drawings because once you have a drawing of one instance you can rename the drawing and change the model and you have a complete new drawing. You may have do do a little detail work if the new drawing has an extra feature, etc. but it is a lot better than starting from scratch. Also, when something that is common to all the parts needs to change, you only have to change it once.

Hi wasim,

FAMILY = common traits/ features

TABLE = This table gives "How each member in the family varies (by dimensions or by presence of some features/ presence of some parts(in .ASM)

The GENERIC here refers to a master trait(like family name in India,e.g patels are having common traits among themselves..so and so..)

so, the generic part or .ASM is the master and only this is stored in disk.

The instances(members) are controlled by the family Table.

Another advantage is to avoid un necessary remodelling of similar parts..

I guess there are lot more in family table.But I guess to begin with, you must know the above .
