Help with this mannequin leg

Well. I am not an expert in proE and currently I am using proE2001 for modelling of themannequin legbelow.

Actually I faced a big problem when trying to start modelling this hercules-like leg. I suppose surface freeform is the only way to model this leg, amI correct?

Well, I would like to know whether it is possible to model this leg using proE2001 because I am not an expert afterall. I hope that you can give me some guides or any suggestions on what method can I use to model this leg?

Thanks for your help. @,@

Hi,

yes it's very possible to create this using 2001. however how accurately you will create it will depend on how well yo can digitise it (or measure it).

Ideally you could use something like a microscribe scanner http://www.immersion.com/digitizer/or a more accurate one from the likes of rennishaw (sp?)

I think if you are going to use a callipers then you have your work cut out!

as for surface freeform, if yo mean pulling and draging at points I don;t think it's possible. I would look at bounded surfaces possibly use ISDX if yo have a lisence.. and possibly take each muscle group as at a time and over extend the surfaces so they can be merged later then either use variable rounds or create patched to achieve the final result!

good luck!

looking forward to seeing the final model!

Thats tough with 2001 because of the lack of some useful tweaking tools in wildfire. I would probably do it with top-down modeling making a skeleton of curves then sharing the geometry out for individual muscles and things. If you dont know top-down then just do it without. If this is your manequin leg, put it on something that spins on axis and set your digital camera fixed in front of it and take shots of it frome four angles. Load them to a surface or plane and use the images to transcribe the curves, shape and location of the muscles. If you have perspective from 5 views including a top shot, it is not too difficult but very time consuming to do this. As far as I know its your best bet. I have wanted to surface a human body but I just dont have the time. Good luck with your leg.

That is how I would do it...

Thanks very much for all your useful tips. I'll take note of it.

Make sure to post some images of your progress, I would very much be interested in how you get along and what techniques you used.
