how can I Import data tables?

Apathy

New member
hi guys im new to pro/e i been using it for about 3 weeks now. I am currently using wildfire 2.0 student edition in my class. I was wondering if i can import a data file (from a txt file or excel) into the sketcher to createpoints that i can use to sketch.

thanks i hope i was clear :)

Apathy,

I've done something very similiar to what you are asking. The only difference was that I imported points with a spline using a .pts file. I don't think you can import datum points to sketcher.

you can also use the datum point tool outside of sketcher to bring in points from a file by using the datum point offset from coordinate system tool.

i was reading in another place about .ibl and .pts files. How do i create one ?

im basicly trying tocreate a lens (cresent like) using aruond 18 points per sectionwith about 30 sections.so instead of just manually adding eatch point 18 times a section can i use a .pts or .ibl file to plot the pots for me. Also can it add the curve automaticly ?

Thanks for any help as you can see im still very newbie ;p

Apathy,

First create a sketch, then create a sketcher cord sys. After doing that, create a point a the location (estimate) of the first point defined in the .pts file. Then create a spline curve from a vert/horz plane to your point. Then edit the spine curve, choose your sketcher cord sys as your reference then browse to the location of where you saved your .pts file.
