How do I model the ribs on a track?

Hi All,

I'm trying to model a rubber track and can't figure out how to model a v-shaped rib to pattern around the surface. The trackis 24" wide, has a drive wheel dia 22" at one end, an idler 18" at the other and is joined by two straightsections. If the rib was straight, I would make a datum point and pattern it then ref. pattern a rib but the v-shaped ribs need to bend around the curved drivers.

Any ideas anyone?

canvasfalcon,

picture would help...

you might try to do this by building a surface that would be the end of each rib. If that surface follows around the shape then it might be possible to pattern it since the patterned rib would refer to the surface and not some other fixed wall. You can also try a datum curve, but I am guessing without seeing the model...

cheers,

M
