I would like to make a penguin cover for a box 310mmx310mmx1040mm!
It would have to be realistic.... could someone guide me step by step...

thx

Sounds like artwork rather than engineering. Got a sketch of what you want? Your description is rather vague.

Oh.. cnc a shape - image or line art shape onto a piece of metal. trace sketch in ISDX or the synthx trick above. Looks like that synthx trick is step by step to me.

what is a penguin cover? A sheath that looks like penguin? Sound like a job for Maya software....

Yes it will be shell like cover looking like penguin or other standing animal.
I would like to cover the water cooler for kids!

I know that it would be best to use Maya, 3D Max, or similar... How should I import it in Pro engineer?

Has anybody tried to make a character in Pro E?

why? I mean if I understood why you would want to get it all into proe, I could help. If its so you can make a detailed 3d exploded drawing and point to the sheath then I understand why. If you want to make tooling from it thats another why. Each has different methods. In Maya for example you might create a domed cover or something and intend on stitching up like a flower unfolds as it blooms. On the other hand you might intend on blow molding it so it will not need to be stitched together. Either way you can do this in maya from a polygon... convert to a sub'd surface then convert to nurbs and import into Pro/E. Ive even made tooling off the Maya data for production. Our Maya instructor did all the models and oversaw the tooling for radio fl er toys ... first run in China. The mayer of Chicago was so pissed to hear that manufacturing got outsourced.

we do stuff like this all the time using freeform digital sculpting, also delcam's artcam can give really good results. both output the drawing as stl files which can then be cnc machined or made into sla's.

freeform is dope! I can sculpt in Maya - import in Pro/E and shell. But freeform alows you the use of the synaptic mouse. If you have never tried that you will smile big trying the synaptic mouse. You can actually feel the polygon ... if its nylon or stone two extremes.

A penguin in the UK is 2 shortcake biscuits witha chocolate cream filling then the whole thing is covered in chocolate. Very tasty!!!
