how to draw the track of a tank?

well, should it be a flexible part because it will be twisted along the flange? in fact, how to draw a track of a tank?

If you want it to twist and work as an actual track of a tank, you should make it that way. Make individual parts and assemble them using relations that will allow flexibility.

thanks a lot.

I have finished drawing the gear wheel and the engaged wheel as two separate parts. And now the track will also treated as another individual part. I suppose that the track consists of tens of small parts, and these parts are all indentical. Then, another problemcomes out: how can the partlocatinghorizontally and the part at the flange be created the same since the latter one is deformed?

And if i just draw the latter onein its deformation situation, considering when the tunk moves, the deformed part will become straight while the straight one will become deformed, thenit is not that reasonable...

help me out...

thanks for all of you...

I think you can draw a DRIVEN path for the track. A closed sketch, like an obround (probably). Define this sketch IN CONTEXT with the center of the two circulary arcs in the center af the tank's wheeles. After that, mate the bolts TANGENT at this sketch. You can adjustthe form of the driven pathto simulate the arrow of the track ( cosed by its weight). I don't try that, is only my opinion. After you solve problem, tell us please how you work. Thank you.

many thanks, Mihail. I think you are right. I finally came to that point too. Thanks to the sample from the web site http://solidworks.cad.de/library_us.htm, i think i should recommend it to any beginner.

For the parts above the flanges of the wheels, deformation occurs because the upper surface is streched while the nether site is compressed.

Yeah, i will figure out how to do it exactly and present it here... cheers!

yeah, maybe you all have found, it turns out to be a quite easy. Just follow the sample from the web site i gave, and drawing a track is no longer a problem. if any one needs help, feel free to PM me.
