how to find dup. parts assembled

DDJCAD

New member
how does onefind dupicate componentsassembled onto(overlapping) each other in an assy.(eg. a single bolt assembled to a hole twice,)

Magne,

I have a feeling that DDJCAD already knows about both of these.....

The problem withthis approach it thatit does not give an obvious (visual) indication that there are two parts perfectly overlapping.......

And I can't think of a tool that will give a more definative visual clue

thanks,

yes, I know both the methods, and prohammy has correctly pointed outwhat is needed is visual indication, like find>comp.>condition(overlapping/buried)>then highlight them

I usually assemble to lead feature of a pattern then group comps, like bolt, washer, nut, then patternthis group to reference pattern.Accidently hiding this pattern sometimes results in reassembling another group of comp.assembled and patterned resulting in wrong qty.as there is no visual clue

ddjcad,

when you do the global interference and click on each listed interference it will highlight the parts in the model and show the area of interference. Does that not satisfy the request?

It sounds like you would like to find any duplication, but I think your method for patterning is creating the problem. Under what conditions would you hide a pattern and then redo the pattern on top of it? I suggest you always add parts to the master report with no hidden parts. then make additional simplified reports merely the variation of the visibility of the master report contents. I try to always make simplified reports after I make the full assembly. You may be concerned that the master report of the assembly will be too large. I would think that at some time you would have it open. However, If you must use a simplified report then make sure you know what is hidden before assembling new parts. I think you will then avoid this problem altogether...

cheers,

M
