How to make a toggle map key?

I tried to record a map key to turn on layers on/off but if the map key is recorded when the toggle switch is off then the mapkey wont work when the toggle switch is on.

Any workarounds?

Create two config files (layer_on.pro layer_off.pro)
In layer_on.pro you create a mapkey that turn layers on AND load the layer_off.pro file, vice versa for the layer_off.pro
Copy what

Alternatively use 2 letters on the keyboard and record the the map key for turning the layers on. Then reverse the order of the keys and record and the opposite map key function.

For example I've set up "tf" to turn on the tree filter and "ft" to turn off the tree filter

enlighten me, are you simply trying to switch the modle tree to the layer tree?? Or are you trying to turn on specific layers like datum planes?
