Importing data

When ever I import data into Pro-E the geometry is outside the "spin" point so when I rotate the part is disappears from the screen.

This is how I'm bring in the data..........

I've open a new file to get my coordinante system, then I create a CSO where I want the part to come into. Then Insert-Shared Data-From File and choose the CSO I created. No matter what I do the imported part spins outside the display screen. I know there is a way to measure the distances and then move the part accordingly one by one (X,Y,Z) but I don't remember how to do this. Any thougths?

Export the part as a STEP file with the new CSO selected.

Import this STEP file into Pro.

Now it will have the origin CSO where you would like it. The other csys will not be present.

Now it will spin about the one you created.

Another trick to try before exporting and importing is to simply turn on the spin center. Sometimes just after I import data I'll rotate the part and spin center is away from the model. I'll turn on and off the spin center this usually takes care of the issue.

Another thing to check is the orientation preferences, because the spin center can be set to something other than Model Center. To find out goto View>Orientation>Reorient. In the pop up under Type select Preferences and you should see the Spin Center Options.

Hope this helps.
