IMPORTING

I received a file from an outside vendor that I am having trouble opening. All the parts have ".prt" extensions. When I try to open them I get this message:

To open unigraphics files, you must select the 'Unigraphics (*.prt.)' filter

I cannot seem to find the "unigraphics *.prt filter.

Can anyone enlighten me.

Thanks in advance,

From what I have been able to find out both Unigraphics and Pro Engineer use the *.prt extension. So it looks like you have a Unigraphics part file and not a ProE part file. Probably need to contact the vendor and have them send the file in a format ProE can read. I haven't seen a convertor that opens Unigraphics *.prt files in ProE.

The 'plug-in' to open UG/NX files is an extra cost license AND requires you to have UG/NX installed on the same workstation.

Go back to the person who supplied you the file and ask for a STEP file of the solid model.

Thanks, everyone.

jeff4136: Checked help. As usual, I found everything EXCEPT what I was looking for.

looslib: I should have known that the answer would involve an "extra cost module" from Pro/Engineer AND another software package. I have already contacted the vendor for a step file.

Thanks again for your responses.
