Inhereting Part Colors into Assembly

Crit

New member
I've got a few assemblies that I had colored as one big lump, only to go back and add more detail parts that I'd like to color separately. I've decided that I'd rather inherit the part or subassembly colors, but when I remove the colors in assembly (what I'd think of as an assembly-level overwrite of the colors) everything goes grey. How can I tell the assembly to reference the part or subassembly colors?

You must have selected 'All Objects' and 'Clear', by doing this it wipes out all appearance information from parts.

Instead, you need to select 'Components' (part or assembly)and 'Clear', this will clear any appearance setting that was applied for that component.

If you already done 'All Objects' and 'Clear', you can save the assembly and retrive the previous version of components to restore the appearance setting.
