Insert Into New Part-Problems

Hello All,

I'm using 2008 SP3.1 (haven't updated to most current SP). I've noticed
certain major problems with this release. I'd like to get any feedback you
might have on these issues. Maybe someone else has run across the
same problems.

Well, first is the "Insert Into New Part" function. I'm a mold designer and
when designing molds, my co-workers and I take a part file, etc. and
Insert certain files into new parts. Well everything is great until I go back
and change something. Theoretically, Solidworks is supposed to update
all referenced parts down the line, right? Not so! In many cases I have
come across this weakness in the "daisy chain". If one file doesn't update,
then the end product doesn't update and I'm crap out of luck.

Second would have to be the "Cavity" function. Same thing here. It just
doesn't link when it's supposed to. The unfortunate thing about both of
these functions is that they cannot be repaired if they screw up. I've tried
to trick Solidworks, and of coarse you can't delete the feature in question
because it's tied with every feature below it. And since it's at the top of
the tree... that's a lot of features.

Any thoughts?
