Inserting an image into a sketch

Brandon Miller

New member
I have a jpg image that I would like to insert into a sketch so I can perform an extrude cut on a part with the profile of the picture. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance.

If you have isdx use the trace sketch option. If not extrude or sketch a flat surface. Make sure you got a reference line on your picture which represents lets say 2 inch. Go to color and apprearance, create a new color and add a texture (your picture to it). select the surfaces instead of model, select the surface i was talking about earlier and assign it the newly created appearance. It should then show the picture and you can then finetune, move scale etc if you reclick the texture button in the color and appearance menu.

Brandon,

You need ISDX to use the trace sketch facility. In ISDX (style icon) go to Insert, Trace Sketch. Before that in the main menu, View:Display Settings: Model Display . Now ensure that the Trace Sketch box is checked.

Hope this helps.

Yes, if you don't have ISDX, there is work around;
Create surface which will represent your datum planes, on those surface apply material color with jpg texture on it.
