Intelligent surface from model (ANSYS)

Hie everyone

I am new to this forum. I found it looking for a fix to one of my problems.

I want to import a 2d surface from ProE wf 5 to ansys workbench 13,0

I have an assembly in proe that contains 3 parts 3D. One of the parts has a couple of parameters stated by me. I want to perform a parameter study in ANSYS using these parameters.

I have tried to create these 2d surfaces (in proe)using a solid cut to reveal them and then highlight them and do a copy paste to each surface (3 pcs axisymetric). Works well but the only problem is that the surfaces looses the parameters they are only connected to the 3d cad structure.

If i update the 3d parts it updates the surfaces as well. But the parameters doesn't follow thru to ansys.

I cant create the 2d surfaces in design modeller as they have bug when importing a 3d model into a 2d analysis.

Best regards Jimmy

Jimmy,

When you use copy-geom to create that 2D surface, it will not pull the original parameters for the model through. It is parametric, but only within ProE (i.e. the granite kernel).

The way to "expose" parameters from CAD to be used in ANSYS, is through the name of the parameter (i.e. a prefix), but since your 2D model does not contain those original parameters from the 3D assembly, Ansys doesn't know they exist.

Is there another way to analyze this? Can you create the goemetry within DesignModeler? Can you share a pic of the geo and give us an idea what kind of analysis you are trying to conduct?
