Intent manager and legacy mode

Mcad Readers,

Is anyone changing their settings to turn off the intent manager and/or revert to legacy mode? I noticed my coworkers doing this and I find it quite funny. It seems they would rather deal with a more cumbersome interface and a more familiar layout. I know they probably learned on a previous software version, and actually I advised one person to do the legacy mode until he gets used to wf2. I just wonder why some of them still do it after working in wildfire versions for more than a year. Am I missing something?

cheers,

Hi,

We are seeing a problem on WF3 m080 where lines disappear when sketching and come back if you select to create a dim using intent manager, it doesn't happen using old ! style sketcher. Doesn't happen all of the time but quite allot.

Magne,

I don't think you are missing anything, I think the guys you are working with are just hanging on to their security blankets for too long

For myself, after I did the initial update training, I made the decision to use only the new stuff in WF, take a bit of pain and get on with it....Couple of days later all was well and I was begining to play with all the new gimmicks that PTC came up with.

However, there is one security blanket that I hang on to. I hate the new new WF colour scheme and always revert back to the pre-Wildfire one

I almost exclusively use new sketcher
and love learning new UI as it's instituted and don't get why people
refuse to learn it but on the other hand read below.

In my
opinion the old sketcher allowed you to do a lot more without having
to sketch exactly how you want something. There are a lot more
options for types of arcs lines circles and other entities. Also if
you want a line parallel to another one you select the line and then
draw a parallel one.

I don't know why on earth you would lump
tangent and 3 point arc into the same icon. That's why there are
flyout icons. To put it simply you don't have to hope the intent
manager can guess what you are trying to do. I see less of a reason
to use it with WF3 because supposedly the performance is a lot
better. In WF2 by turning off intent manager Pro/E is not constantly
acting like an * Retentive and the performance is a lot faster.

And
until I learned of the Right Click drag to change snap point of
imported geometry I preferred using the old sketcher import
functionality.

The only time I use the new non Pre-Wildfire
colors is if I'm running another session while waiting for a regen or
Pro/E Not Responding in the main Pro/E session.
The new color
scheme is inexcusable in my opinion but If you weren't used to the
2001 and earlier versions I guess you wouldn't miss know what you're
missing out on.

there is funny thing I noticed - it is easier for newbie to learn new Pro\e than it is for existing user. I passed this test with my collegues from previous job. Some of them were really angry on all changes PTC made with their lovely 2001 version. It took long to move all habits from 2001 to WF 2.0.

In my opinion - the direction of changes is good. I only regret that work in newer versions is less stable.

I use the intent manager 99.5% of the time but every once in a while I can not get it to do what I want. I always start out with intent manager but if I can't beat it into submission I just turn it off to finish a sketch. I can always get what I want that way.
