interference checking

Can anybody tell me the proper way to check for interference between two parts in a larger assembly?

I go into model analysis and select global interference. I then control select the two parts I am concerned with and hit compute. The analysis completes but it gives me all of the other interferences in the assembly. I have some interferences in by design (screw threads, press fits, etc.) so I don't want to have to figure out what are the "good" and "bad" interferences. I just want to see the bad ones which are present in the parts I select.

What is the correct way to either check only specific parts or exclude other parts from the analysis?

One thing you can do is create a simplified rep without the screws. Then the thread interference will not show up inthe interference check. You will not see any interferenceswith the screw heads.

a coworker suggested using pairs clearance which does in fact seem to check the amount of interference (negative clearance?) between two parts.

This seems to be yet another case of Pro engineer Software engineers calling a feature something and leaving it up to the user to actually try it to see what it really does.

the best way I used to do is to create one of interesting You model as a Quilt. Then in assembly mode You use an option Quilt interference or something like that, I do not remember right, but no global interference. With this Pro\E will care only about interference between quilt part and rest, very usefull.

To create quilt of part, open this part, make sure it is solid, move insert mode to the end of the tree(all feats should be unsuppresed) choose any surf from model, RMB > solid surf> copy> paste

I agree with michaelpaul if you're only checking 2 parts the best way is pairs clearance. If you're checking the asm. use a simp rep without hardware,then use global interference check.
