Intralink Dataserver problem

Hi,

I am in the process of verifying a restore of a database and vaults backup. On our CAD network we have the live server which has the live Pro/Intralink dataserver and also a backup server which also has Pro/Intralink dataserver but is not in use. This backup server was used as pilot for upgrading Pro/Intralink before doing the actual upgrade on the live server.

What I have in mind is to restore a backup from the live server on the backup server in order to verify my backups. The problem is that when I shutdown the dataserver on the backup server using dbshut_ilink, the live dataserver shuts down aswell!! How is this possible?!

regards

Hi Icewebb,

Is your Pro Intralink servers are being shared by one single database or it is running 2 different databases. If it is a single database then each time you shutdown one of the databases i.e the Backup server it points to the Live server as well and it shuts down.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Deepak

Hi Icewebb,

Can you please check yourTNSNames.ora and Listener.ora file. In Listener.ora file you have something called as GLOBAL_DBNAME. And in TNSNames.ora make sure you have all the entries correct in it. Make sure that the Global DBName is different for both the servers.

Thanks,

Deepak

I checked both files on the backup server. There is no such GLOBAL_DBNAME field in the files. However the field Hostname was wrong as it was pointing to the live server. I changed the value of this field to the hostname of the backup server.

An error message i'm getting when i try "Connect Intralink Admin" in DSMU is:

Cannot connect to the specified nfs server. Ensure that the file server is running, and that the owner of the file server process has permission....etc. etc.

I am able to connect to the dataserver in DSMU though. I also noticed that when i run the parameter report in DSMU the parameter local_listener is still pointing to the wrong hostname ie. to the live server.

Hi Icewebb,

Do you have the permission to login with your username and do the changes. If you the administrator then you should have full rights to make the changes. Intralink has a very tight security policy setup for all its File Server and Data Server files.

Please let me know once you change the access policy for all the files.

Thanks & Regards,

Deepak
