kitchen items and a US Quarter

2ms1

New member
I'm making props for my hand model to manipulate or at least pose with. I just made an egg. Now I'd like to make two more things. The second one I can probably figure out better, but the first one I'm a bit less experienced in the areas I imagine involved.

Anyone have suggestions on approach to making a US Quarter? I've used an image put on a datum plane to use as a sketching sorta guide, but I've never actually used images with a model. Would it be easy to just make a litte disc protrustion the diameter and depth of a quarter and just apply images like the following to the front and back?

The other thing I would like to make is a cup and suacer pair such as the one shown below

Well, is there any way to use images sortof like decals in Pro/E? Is there no way for me to take images of back and front of a quarter and just apply them to each side of a disc? I'm not finding anything in Pro/E Help, but it seems there must be a way.

Hi,

Yes, you can apply the sides of the coin onto surfaces.

Draw your basic coin shape, then go to 'edit, color and appearances'.

In the assignment box, select surfaces, then select the surface of the coin you want to put the decal onto. It will change to whatever colour you have picked. Then in the tabs half way down, select the Map tab. You can then browse for the image you want to add to the surface as a decal. You will get options to scale, rotate and move the image on the surface that you have selected.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks Michael that was the trick. Igot both of the props done. Here's the quarter. If I cared a little moreI'd spend a few minutes in photoshop, eyedrop tool a couple colors from the two "decals" to create a single pattern consisting of a tiny two-color gradient to make a pair of the ridges that are on side of coin, and then use it as texture on that surface too, but this is perfectly fine for what I need it for:

hi,

How to get the same impression on the part i mean emboss. Is there any way to do that or we have to do that in proe.

If you want to make it look that bit more realsitic, why don't you model a ridge in and circular pattern it. Wouldn't take much to do that but it would be a nice finishing touch.
