knurly surface

hello

i am new to proe and i would like to know how to make a knurling on surface

the case is a model for grip wich is used in tensile testing machine so it should be knurled .

please help.

m_ammar_t,

there are several sample parts in the "files" section on this site that can show you how to do this. search for "knurl" and download one for reference.

you can also do this with ARX rendering without drawing the feature by making it appear to have the knurl if that is all you need.

cheers,

M

That is a total waste of compute power but it is fun.

it's how we learn. threads are a waste of power too but I like to have them on my parts. and for normal sized assemblies, it doesn't slow things down too much. but I don't work on ginormous assemblies that have thousands and thousands of parts either.

Creating the feature allows for prototypes to have have the texture. I hate trying to explain "this surface would have a knurl" when handling a SLA or some other type. It improves the look and feel enough to justfy the effort.

This is applicable where a knurled screw is a hardware item available off the shelf from a local hardware store.

When you wish to create the component through RPT methods then an EXACT representation is necessary, which proe provides for. There is nothing that you cannot model in Proe. Only the degree of difficulty varies.

If you are using the knurled feature quite often, you may try creating a UDF, though I am not sure of its behaviour since I have not tried it.
