Locked Dimensions in Sketcher

Hacks

New member
Guru's,

If one right clicks on a dimension in sketcher, one can
toggle lock it so the dimension appears with the letter "L"
preceding it. See attached image.

My question - is there a config option or other setting that
allows for all the dimensions for a sketch to automatically come up
locked when one goes to redefine a feature?

Thanks for the quick response burnsp.

I forgot to mention we're on 2001 and the option
you state appears to be for WF 1.0 and higher and
is close but not exactly what I'm looking for.

yes

I'm on WF 1.0 but I'm sure there is a way to do it in 2001.

We have a guy here that might know but he's not available now - I'll speak with him later and let you know if I find something different.

sketcher_lock_modified_dims does not do it.

I've spoken with a PTC rep and that's the way they want it. What I do when I think about it (usually after making a mess of things and Undo-ing out of it) is set the selection filter to Dimensions, select all with a crossing window and Lock 'em.

ummm... Rats, what I described was based on WF which has a filter drop down list on the lower rt portion of the screen (on what some would call a status bar). I don't know how you'd go about it in 2001 or if you can. Sorry.

Brad,

While this may seem like a good thing to do, I found it's more of a nuisance. If the dims are locked they don't always come up when you over constrain a sketch. In other words, when you add a dim and the Resolve Sketch dialog box comes up, locked dims are not always (if ever) listed as one ofthe conflicts (for good reason) and thus not available for removal. You have to go back into the sketch and unlock or delete them.

I found it's easier just to manually lock the dims I really want locked instead of allowing Pro/E to make the choice for me.

Also, regarding my earlier post, I don't have an answer for you - we couldn't find anything and we don't have 2001. Sorry. Let us know what you find.
