I have to deal with some imported spur gears from Solidworks. I know how to create involute gears from scratch but how can I go about match the profile that I'm stuck with? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
start with what you know...set your pitch circle , start with a pressure angle of 20deg ( unless you know the actual value) and then evaluate the dimensions. Make sure the SW gear or pinion has not been phase shifted to strengthen the base of the tooth. You are making a copy gear from scratch in pro e? I would build a gear with roughly the same dimensions first and then tweak it to match the target gear.
