Measure of a protrusion

Hey folks!

How do I get the measurement of a protrusion that is curved like an "s". I don't want to know the measurement from top to bottom, but what the length following the curve is. TIA

You could doit this way:

If you have behavioural modelling add a feature straight after the sweep that will give you the volume of the material. If you don't have BM, analysise the volume and take a note of what it is. Make sure that there are no holes or protrusions on the sweep at this stage.

Divide the volume by the cross sectional area of your sweep. This method will only work if your cross section is constant. If it isn't you would need to use integrals which ismore involved than I can go into here.

By using Behavioural modelling you can parameterise this information so that it updates should you change the length or cross section of your model. Don't forget that this method assumes neutral axix at the centroid of the secition. If it's thick sheetmetal, chances are your neutral axis won't be at the centre of area.

if you just want to know the lenght of "s" curve use Analisys>Measure> Curve Lemgth > pick the curve(edge)

and that is all
