Mechanica wildfire2-Motion

New member
While running the Analysis first time , got following message - Compilation Failed. Additional information may be available from outside of Mechanica Motion by examining the Engine's Log file.
Exit Mechanica Motion and than type 'mmwatch'.
When I open the message log, the last 4 lines say -
-Generating Equation of Motion
-Compiling Equation
-Compiling Environment
-Linking Simulator program
-Disconnecting from the Mechanica motion Engine.
How can I solve this issue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Dave09,

The installation directories should not have any spaces. make sure you setthe MM_C_HOME variable. If you are running impact simulation you will experience problems if there are spaces on the intallation directories. You will have to re-install everything.

Jaime,
I have installed mech wildfire 2.0 and proe wildfire 2.0 and visual basic c++ version 8, in c:\program files. if i understand correctly , do you mean that i have to reinstall everything in c:\ directory or make a new directory like "Program_files" and install everything there.
You don't think that the problems is with the visual basic c++ version 8.
Because i thought version 8 is not compaitble and I have to download older version like version 5 or version 6
Please let me know . Thank you for your help.

You got it. You have to re-install pro/e and pro/m on a folder like C:\PTC\ProEWF20 and C:\PTC\ProMechWF20 for example.

Try the c++ version 8 and if it still does not work try to find the VC98. The VC98 is what I have been using for about 6 years.

Jaime,
Reinstalled Pro-e and pro-mecanica and visual c++ 2008 in directory proe2002 and visual respectively.

Made sure no space in the path directory.
Set variable MM_C_HOMEC:\visual\VC\bin

Still I got the same message - Compilation failed.

Seems like only thing left is to find VC98. Had no luck so far. still looking.

Do you know where can I find VC98. Thanks for your help.

If everything else is ok, it looks like your mm_c_home directory is one level too deep.
It should be set to c:\visual\VC. If you set it to the bin folder, that may end up being too far into the directory tree. I'd try that before dumping out, and re-installing everything again.

Dave,

Indigio2 is right, check that the enviroment variable is set as indigo2mentioned above(c:\visual\VC).

Note: You dont have to re-install pro/e nor pro/mech again. Now everything is on the C++.

I just remember that you will need also a library for C++. At workI have VC98 with a library. The C++ is 1 CD and The library have to be install complet (2 CD's).

Below is theC++ I have installed on my workstation.

Microsoft Visual C++6.0 and MSDN Library Visual Studio 6.0

Mechg,
Good question.

Actually I was looking for some good book to practise some tutorials on MDO but instead I found Mechanica Motion, so thought let me try this.

But you are right. I already found some tutorials on this forum on MDO so I am going to forget about Mechanica motion.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Indigo2, Jaime,

Tried setting MM_C_HOME as C;\visual\VC

got message - mspdb80.dll not found.

Thanks for your help anyway. I have decided to forget about Mechanica motion and work with MDO.

Thanks Again.

Glad to hear your decision to move to MDO. I really had to dust off the cobwebs to recall the fine details on Mechanica Motion installs. I'd have to say that MDO is quite a bit easier to work with anyway, and hopefully you'll get the results you're looking for.
Good luck!
