Memory issues

I am trying to do a sketch > data from file, to a protrusion that in the end I want to be a label. I am taking a section of a bigger assembly and trying to place it as 2-d entities but when I do this it gives me a memory message! Does anyone know of a better way to do this? I went back and tried taking some of the entities that are not really needed out but it still doesn't want to seem to want to choke it down.
