merging parts with access to features

Is there any way to merge a part into another part in a manner such that one
can to access features in the merged-in part as references? For example, I
would like to merge some parts into a "parent" part and then tie everything
together with some surfacing. However, without the ability to actually
reference some features inthe merged-in parts, I am not able to get the
kind of continuity I need (such as by referencing curves in ISDX or using
tangency constraints). Right now I'm just doing Insert>Shared
Data>Merge/Inheritance

yea... i recall a way (an option) to merge in features and instead of referencing you can copy all the features. haven't used that since 1994

I have used itbut I think the feature is the Merge/Inheritance under the Insert>Shared Data menu.

Sorry, I didn't see that you were already using the merge/inheritance feature. If youare still trying to use this feature did you toggle the inheritance icon?
