mirror error

I am working with an old version of SW 2004. I have a mirror error that comes up when I try to mirror some faces.

Mirror1: Could not attach patterned faces to the solid to form a closed body.

What does this mean and what is the best method of determining the offending surface?

For some reason or another it is trying to make a closed volume out of your surfaces , or add this volume to a solid that is already modeled.

Maybe if you build exactly half of the part and make it a solid first it will have no problems mirroring the solid body?

Thanks for getting back to me skateboardkid. I have since figured out what I think was causing the error. I my particular case it had to do with the order of construction. I was trying to mirror some bosses about a an existing solid. I redid a few things and was finally able to mirror what I needed.
