I need to create a mirror image of a part for right and left hand sides. The mirror command will not mirror features such as Shell. Is there an easier way to do this than to build the right hand side from scratch?
In model tree go to feature before you created shell, select all feature you want to mirror, mirror them and then go back in model tree. Create another shell for mirrored model.
Or if you must mirror whole part, create dummy assembly, put in part you want to mirror, then select Create component in assembly mode, chose part, mirror, give it its name, select part you wish to mirror, select assembly plane and your mirror part is finished.
Choose Geometry selection, pick a surface on the part, select slolid surfaces, copy all surfaces on same place. Select this quilt and mirror it, then select mirrored quild and solidify it.
Sounds complicated, but i find it useful. This way it is possible to mirror whole part and then work with on it as normal solid, which is not possible with assembly method.
Select the 1st point on your Model Tree,( ***.prt) that allows you to simply mirror the whole part about an offset datum. I have done that sometimes and then deleted the original part and saved new part as other hand etc.
