mirrored merge

I have a part that was mirrored (dependent) from another part. I now find that I would like the part to be independent of the original. Is there a way to accomplish this?

hi Herb !!
I think there are two cases:
1. If you use file-->mirror part to make a new part and don't want it depend on the old part, you just uncheck Geometry Dependent.
2. If you want to make the mirror geometry on the same part, try to follow this way, edit-->feature operations-->copy-->mirror-->all feat-->independent, and then select the plane that you want it to be mirrored.

Hope these help !!

I forgot to add this is a sheetmetal part.

I have also been informed (by PTC) that since this is a sheetmetal part, that it is impossible to make a dependent mirrored part independent.
