Model could not be retrieved

I'm working on a drawing which I've saved yesterday. I've opened it and added pages, views etc, while I've also made changes in the model. When adding new parts/assemblies to the drawing, I started to get a message that the main parent model "Xcould not be retrieved, press return"

I've beensaving the drawing and model, after a crash I'm trying to open the drawing, but it says Model X could not be retrieved. (As if the model is missing or has been renamed) At no point did I rename anything. I can open the model itself.

I dont know how to fix the drawing, as I can't rename a model or make sure the model is there. (nothing was renamed and the model is there)

Now what?

This happened to us, before. A quick fix is creating a dummy part (just a block or something) and naming it whatever the drawing is looking for. Find it in your drawing, delete the view and the model from the draft. Save it and you should be able to delete your dummy part and still open the drawing.

As for the reason it happened, its probably related to the crash or drawing saving procedures. IF you rename parts in an active assembly without saving the drawing, it will still be looking for the old name and obviously it does not find it since it has been renamed.

Good luck,
Denis
