I have a blank part & finished part. I would like to substract the finished part from blank part and to show only the remaining material. I need to do material verification.
Pls suggest me the possible ways to obtain the same.
first - forget about simple and direct functions for boolean operation on solids like substract is. It works fine in Catia( Body), but not in Pro\E.
So to achieve this, PTC created some tool to goes around with this problem. One of them is Insert > Shared data > Cut out from other model
You can also do this in assembly mode and use cut out func localized in Edit > Components operations > cut out
there also Copy geom form other model and then cut by solidify.... many many ways
The easiest way I have found to do this is to take the new blank part and use Insert-->shared data-->Inheritance Feature. You will be asked to choose the part to insert (finished part), then you can just toggle the subtract material and you will be left with the part you need.
