Modeling ports

I've been modeling intake and exhaust ports in Pro/E for
years. Since I'm new to SW, how do specify axis angles
in 3D (say 4 deg tilt and 3 deg cant)? I used Datum
planes in Pro/E but its not the same in SW. I could
select two planes and hit axis and an axis would be
created at the intersection automatically. I'm sure its
very simple but I'm missing it here. Thanks!

I've drawn two planes, selected them and chose
Insert>Reference Geometry>Axis. The two planes are
listed but it says Rebuild error - select two planes to
define the axis. I've tried two planes in the same
sketch and two planes in two sketches but both end in
same result. The planes intersect each other. I don't
get it.

Now that you've figured out how to create the axis... how in the heck do you create a plane perpendicular to the axis so you can sketch a shape to extrude along the axis?<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

axis is got by selecting two perpendicular planes, the third plane which in not used will be perpendicular to the axis by default..

If I understand well your problem (you need one or more oriented segments in 3D space), I think that is a more easy way to create that axis:

Sketch a line using 3D SKETCH tool (SKETCH toolbar). Use the dimension tool to orient your line as you need: Using angles between your line and the SW's default planes OR using the coordinates for the line's end points OR ........ (usetools provided from math for oriented segments in 3D space).

You can also use the SKETCH RELATIONS between your oriented segment and the default planes and axis(like IN PLANE, NORMAL TO PLANE or ALONG X, ALONG Y ...) and between two points orlines (like COINCIDENT or PARALLEL or ... ). To see the available SKETCH RELATIONS between two or more entities, select that entities and see the properties manager window.

Hope this is a help.

Please ! Tell me what is the english word for ORIENTED SEGMENT. In romanian language is "vector". Thank you.

Good luck !
