Modeling Threads

I need to model an actual thread it's approx 3.00dia x 32tpi

Please show me the best practice for this

Thank you

use insert->helical sweep option -> walk through the steps.

You need to know your thread cross-sectional profile.

Hi Mark,

small tip, while creating the actual thread cutting using helicalsweep. creat the section below the thread start surface. If you are creating thread for the full length of the spindleextend the length of the sweep profile equal to 1/2 pitch beyond the thread end surface, to have the proper cut.

also, if your part size is too big compared to the thread feature, do not include fillets/rounds in the sketcher, this creats small edges leading to geom check some times feature creation may also fail.

In my previous post the picture shown is a thread section for a squar thread with2 pitch. the cut will be actually little larger than .5pitchto provide the clearance.

Hi design engine,

ACME is modified square thread with an included angle of 29 degrees. square thread will have no radial load so used in screw jack and vices to carry high axial load, but difficlt to cut. so ACME is used in lathes and such machines for power transmission.
