moving a patterned object

I have an assembly, and inside that assembly are 4 battery packs. (1 original, and 3 patterned) The original is constrained on 1 side, and 2 tangents. allowing the packs to be move only in the y direction for adjustment over time. The pattern was set up using direction, 2 @ 2" spacing in X direction, 2 @ 2" spacing in y direction.

Everything looks good until I want to move the original. I prefer ctrl+alt+drag, but no matter how, if I move the original, none of the patterned objects will move. redraw, regenerate, even closing / erase not displayed / reopen, will make the pattern move.

The only way I've been able to work this, is to delete the pattern, and then recreate.

Any suggestions?

If you expand your pattern feature and look at the instances, is there a square before the part name? If so this means thefirst instanceis partially constrained. Try fully constraining the original and see if the pattern updates.

that does the trick to fix it. the only problem is I lose the ability to drag if necessary. I had purposely left it in a dragable state. If I have to make a choice though. having them all in the right location is better then dragging around.
