Need to Hide a surface in Model

Dear friends,
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
I made the model for a worm gear. To create the "curved tooth", I created a cylindrical surface and a line projected over this surface. The tooth cut was made by sweeping through this curve.
I completed the model. Now, I wanted to hide the cylindrical surface. I tried to hide it from model tree and at that time it disappears. When I am opening it next time, it appears again. I want to hide it permanently.

Picture and modelare attached. Can anybody suggest a good method?

You need to "save status" in your layer tree....

If you want, you can put it on a separate layer , and hide that layer, but as i said...dont forget "save status".
