New -> Format, Layout, Markup

Hi

What are these 3 things for? We can create new:

-Format

-Layout

-Markup

I played around with it a bit but didn't manage to found purpose for it. I thought new -> Format for example was for creating custom templates. But it does not save in the right file type.

Soin short term. What are these "capabilities" for?

Format is used for the drawing sheet format. It contains the sheet border, and other standard items you want to appear on the drawing such as notes and tables. Markup allows you to make notes detailing what changes need to be made to a part, drawing, assembly, etc. I haven't used Layout but you can find information on it in the help under Assembly Design>Assembly>Configuring Assemblies.

Thanks for answer. Will look in help for more details.

So Format is for what i thought it was for. Will look in help how to use it correctly.

Layouts are basically to be used as engineering notebooksand typically for what is referred to as a "Configurator" to automate a design using the top down design methodology. It has the same look and feel as a drawing but it is where you store critical parameters, values, calculations, relations and pro/program changes. That is then "declared" to a skeleton and drives the skeleton or anything else you want to drive downstream. Many people are using Jlink and Weblink in it's place since it is limited in it's capabilities.
