Not finding edge?

I'm importing a 2d dxf, that I need to extrude. This is a circuit board, and the ground plane is quite busy. I'm trying to create an entity from an edge, using a chain or loop. When I use loop for example, and select an edge, instead of the complete outline, I only get a parital section. Sometimes, I get the whole edge, but more often then not, I get about 10 sections, so I must select many times. I've had similar results with chain. I wouldn't complain, except on the for mentioned ground plane, we are looking at about 4,000 segments.

The dxf is from Autocad, and works fine there. I've also tried on different exports, acad 2000, 2007, .sat etc. It seems to soley be a problem within pro/e/

I'm using WF3

thats because you did not clean up the geometry before you imported it. Those guys make lines look touching. Pro/E will require a closed loop for it's prefect selection.

Yeah Autocad drawings can often contain overlapping entitys which pro-e would see as an open loop.

If your using WF4, you can select to see the open edges in sketcher mode and see the closed loops as shaded patches.
