Number of parts in assembly?

fishman

Hi all,

I have a large assembly and I want to know the total number of components that make up that assembly. When I do a model properties, it lists the subassemblies as single components. I want to know the total number of components in the upper level. Any suggestions? Thanks,

Ben

In 2001 I would go to 'info>BOM' and it would generate a nice .txt file that could be imported into Excel or just printed out with notepad. Once imported into Excel I could find the total number of parts easily. Now, in WF it generates this pretty but ridiculous HTML which takes three times the paper to print. So much for saving the trees. I saw .txt as an option for saving, but it turns the HTML into a huge .txt file, which is worthless.

I also wouldlike to know if there is a better way.

best way is to create a Drawing, insert a BOM table (assuming the structure is defined) and export it to a suitable file type readable in Exel. Use Pivot table in Exel to maniputale the data.

Alternatively the same can be done in the BOM table if you do not wish to see different views of your Bom Data.
