Off-Road Motorcycle Trailer

Hi Everyone,

This is Not a modelling Challenge...

I wan't to build a 3 bike trailer for myself, not to be sold commercially

I was looking for ideas on making a really slick high speed trailer.

I was wondering if anyone was prepared to share models of Wheels, tires, axles, springs, etc...

I don't mind if the format is Step, but I only have WF2

I realise some of you may do this for a living and cannot divulge info...

I understand this and respect it.

Regards

Mark

there was once upon time a challange among all memebers of Mcad 1-2 years ago I suppose. The teams were built and challenges were taken. that was great time looking how people from different places of the world strive to make something each other. the point was - mainly - there was not fixed accurate goal, model. Maybe with Your motorcycle this activity could be reactivated.

Come up with a good design and I will get it costed and prototyped at my factory in China

model it up!I have one with three rails.

If someone models it up ill do the wiring diagram in RSD and route the harnesses in Pro/CABLE and make both Wiring diagram with 3d nail board drawing.

Here is one picture of mine. (my next trailer will be a covered tandem wheel complete with brakes but Ill need a bigger truck to pull it)

Notice the towel under the rear wheel. that protects the rear from groves on the rear wheel. The front can be narrow while the rear is pounded out to accommodate the rear wheel.

1 I would prefer larger wheels
2 leaf springs are fine
3 to pull the motorcycle tight the rings for the tie down must be 12 to 15 inches off center near the front axil.
4 this trailer teeters so to load the bike up onto the rail. There is a cotter pin that locks the teeter process. Sometimes users forget to put the pin back into place.
5 would be a plus to be able to store fuel / air tanks on the tongue of the trailer.
6 I have seen some trailers that are not offset like mine... the handle bars interfere when trying to get all three on the trailer at once. Design yours to the center bike goes 15" farther up.

Thanks for the ideas guys...

I am taking a long weekend this weekend, where there will be a fair amount of trailers there, so I can get some ideas.

I really think the offset tracksare a must unless I put the centre bike in reverse, which could prove to be a bit awkward.

I will take some time to design this as I have limited time on a workstation every week, thats why I was looking for models of all the standard bits, like wheels axles etc.

A trailer component company, called Burquip International has offered a few samples so I may go and measure up on their premises, this i think will help.

I also want to be very carefull as i only get one shot at this, due to finacial constraints

I really appreciate the help!!!

Keep it coming.
