offset curve in sketch

I make a general curve (open or closed)in a sketch of a part, then I want to offset it right away in the same sketch. Howcan I do it?

you may use copy/paste to offset a curve.

thou I think it's a little complicated comparing to (I think) most 3d Software that you just have to click an icon and specify the offset value.

what if the curve is a closed one?
