Parameter note : instance name

All,

I have a drawing where I show different stages of a product. These fabrication stages are made in a single part file using family table functionality.

How can I attach a note (with leader) to each representation which automatically shows the name of the instance being represented ?

Alex

Set your model active prior to note creation. You can pick the model, RMB & select set model active. Then just insert the parameter &model_name in the note.

So that's :

putting "&model_name" in the clipboard

set model active

create note

throw in text with CTRL-V

set other model active

etc ...
[/list]

Pity, I thought there would be some magic like "&fam_instance:att_mdl".

Even tried to create a parameter 'instance' in the part file, add this parameter to the family table and copy/paste the names into the parameter column. Unfortunately the "instance" parameter is empty in all derived children and I don't know what relation I could use to force an update of the parameter. As far as I read help there's something like &fam in Pro/Report but don't know how to get this thing going.

You can put "&model_name:xx"where "xx" is a session id number.

You can get session id number from Relation > Show > Session ID. (This is only available from an assembly).

BTW, I'm 2001. It may be a little different on WF.

From Pro/Report the parameter is &fam.inst.name, but I haven't got it to work in a note. It works in a table, but not a note.

You could probably use this table to attach a BOM balloon to the instance.
