Part Simp Rep and DWG or ASSYs

Okay,

I'be been trying to figure this out for a while and have officially acknowledged defeat (at least in my ability to stumble on the answer directly). So, I'm throwing the question out to you.

I have a part file of a label. the label goes on a curved surface. in the part file, I have a "curved" Simp rep and a "flat" simp rep. The curved rep should be shown in the assembly while the flat rep will be used to create the drawing.

I originally only had a curved rep so when I assembled the part into the assembly the master rep was adequate. Now, in the assembly the master rep is not adequate as it shows both the curved and the flat geometry. My drawing also does the same thing.

So the question is........how do I assign a part in a drawing or an assembly to point to a specific Simp Rep in the part? it seems kind of silly if I can have 100 different representations of my part but that I can't create a drawing of each one independently or use them in my assy.

I did stumble on the way to assemble a part and pick a simp rep when you open the part using the insert component command but that doesn't help if the part is already assembled and you then decide to create or add diffeerent simp reps to your part file.

I've looked all over and this just seems to be one of those things that I can't figure out.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

Well all what you did, and what happened is suppose to happened.
First you can't create drawings from simp rep Parts, this would be only available in WildFire 3.0.
Second, you can create simp rep of part, but when you assemble this part in assembly you can't chose which simp rep, or master rep of part to assemble.

Now for solutions:
You can create new simp rep in assembly, using Substitute By Rep, select your part, and select its simp rep you want to be shown.
Now for everything you need to do with this asm you must use this new simp rep (for creating drawings etc).
Note: Master rep is master, it shows everything.

Second solution
I always when need something like this use family tables, I create instances and assemble ones I need in assembly, and it is easier to create drawing from instances.
So in your case, create FMT, with flat state and curved state, in your assembly replace generic part with curved instance and everything would be ok.

Hope it helps
