part with more than one operation

I have a question. When we have a part with more than one operation (machining, thermal treatment, machining again, etc), what is the way to make a different drawing?. Is it possible to use a family table? Or a layer?. Thank you.

Try to use Inheritance function.

1. File -> New (Type: Part; Sub-type: Solid) and enter new part name below;

Then...

2. Insert -> Shared Data -> Inheritance from Other Model;

3. Open -> Select target model;

Inheritance Placement dialog appears...

4. Use button named "Fix Inheritance current position" -> OK ->OK;

5. If necessary, define Var Dimensions or Var Features;

Then you could make a Multi-Sheet drawing with inheritenced models you need.

Try it!.. Maybe it helps...

Family tables can be used too. I usually decide which to use by how extensive the differences are between the two models. If it is just one or two extra features, I use family table. If I'm starting with a casting or forging and machining it all over then the inheritance feature is better good way.
