Pattern along curve

I am trying to create a hole pattern along a curve. I created the curve by offsetting the outside edge of the part inward a set distance. I then create a point on the curve and set a distance ratio. I create an axis threw the point normal to the surface, and create a coaxial hole referencing the axis.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

With the hole highlighted I pick the pattern feature, then choose fill for the pattern type, and select my curve I created earlier from offsetting the outside edge of the part, and choose curve for the fill type, and set my center to center distance, and a hole pattern is created along the curve.

Now my problem is the pattern chooses one of the vertexes of my closed curve for the center of the first patterned hole "hole2" then spaces the rest of the holes from the center of hole 2, completely ignoring my original hole "hole1"

This creates 2 problems.
1. hole1 is not taken into consideration when spacing the rest of the holes, so its location is not spaced correctly relative to the other holes.
2. I don
